Jill Miller and Mount Zion Present Christmas
Benefit Concert for Sunrise
Songwriter Jill Miller and the Mount Zion Baptist Choir will perform "The
Gift of Christmas" benefit concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17
at the Orpheum Theatre to raise funds for the new Health Center at
Sunrise Retirement Community.
The Lamb School Musical Theatre Troupe and Mount Zion Children’s Choir
will also perform. Miller will sing original songs as well as holiday classics.
Miller has recorded three CDs and performs throughout the area. This is her
fifth benefit concert for Sunrise.
The 35-member Mount Zion Baptist Choir has been performing in Siouxland
for many years. Choir musician, Charles Sanders, is returning from tour to
join Miller and the choir on stage. Sanders has toured the country for the
past year playing the drums and keyboard with Indigenous, a well-known blues
rock band, which has opened for Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph Band and others.
Portraits by Bobier Studio will be offered in the theatre lobby along with
a gift raffle.
Concert proceeds will support funding construction of the Health Center,
which will feature all private rooms. The Health Center will offer skilled
care, nursing care, assisted living memory care and assisted living. It will
feature expanded Medicare outpatient therapy and gardens.
The Health Center, the heart of the 35-acre Sunrise campus, will connect
with two secured buildings — the Bernstein and Sunlight Memory Care
centers.
"A special evening of holiday music enhances the Christmas season,"
says Bev Zenor, Sunrise executive director. "As our senior residents
relish sharing golden memories of Christmas holidays, we enjoy sharing
the season’s
spirit with others."
Sponsors are KTIV Channel 4, The Sioux City Journal, KSCJ Radio and Y Country
101.3.
Concert tickets are on sale for $15 for adults at Sunrise and at the door.
Children 12 and under are free. Groups of 10 or more are $10 each and
can be purchased by calling Sunrise at 712-276-3821, ext 3144.
