Sunrise Elects New Board Officers

Sunrise Retirement Community elected Howard Logan of First Trust Savings Bank in Moville president of its board of directors at its recent annual meeting.

Other newly elected officers are: Larry Book of Book Enterprises and community volunteers Dr. William Ziebell, secretary and Donald Kelsey, treasurer.

Other board members are John Anderson of Corbett, Anderson, Corbett, Vellinga, LLP; Tom Grimsley of C.W. Suter, Michael Gunsch of Younglove Construction, Richard Keith of RBC Wealth Management, Steven Schmidt of Security National Bank and Dr. Carolyn Leman and Thomas Padgett community volunteers.

Sunrise served the needs of nearly 300 seniors residing on its campus during its 2008-09 fiscal year. It also provided $611,000 in gratuitous care to seniors in need of support. It recently opened The Pointe at Sunrise, a new 62-apartment home community for active seniors to expand its choices for independent living.

The community-based, not-for-profit organization will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010. In addition to offering nursing care and assisted living in its health center, Sunrise has two memory care centers, short-term respite care and income-based apartment homes.

Sunrise is currently planning to replace its current health center with two 18-room nursing neighborhoods and 34 assisted living apartments for seniors.

Sunrise is the largest and most complete retirement community in Siouxland. As a community-based, not-for-profit, it provides the entire continuum of care for seniors, from independent living to specialized memory care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
