City, IA 51106 www.sunriseretirement.com December 15, 2009 Sunrise Benefit Concert Raises over $15,000 Sunrise Retirement Community held a holiday concert featuring Jill Miller and Girlfriend on December 5th at the Orpheum Theatre. Over 800 people attended the concert that raised $15,000-- money that will benefit the life enrichment programs and transportation services for the residents of Sunrise. Jill Miller's dad, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer's disease, was a resident at Sunrise 10 years ago. During her performance she shared her memories with the audience of how she would come and visit and sing to her dad. "Whenever I sang to him his eyes would light up" said Miller. "I knew that I could always reach him with my music. It is important to me to give back to Sunrise and share my gift of song. That is what the concert was all about." "We are extremely grateful to all of our sponsors, attendees and especially Jill Miller for their support of this event" said Stedman, director of fund development. "Jill Miller has a special connection with our residents. Several members of our Sunrise community came out for this event including 14 residents from our health center. It was a special Christmas gift for them."
